About Hair Transplantation
Hair transplantation is the transplantation of cells. The hair which is transplanted has no importance for us. What is important is the cell at the root of it.
The hair on your neck is hair which will not fall out, even at the age of 90. That is because this hair is resistant to the testosterone hormone. What we do is transplant the quality hair cells in this region to the region where there is no hair. And in this way, these quality cells, which are transplanted, do not fall out throughout your life.
Hair transplantation is performed in 2 ways. It is performed with the FUT and FUE methods, which are accepted by scientists throughout the world. These have absolutely no other names. The FUT method is known among the public as the surgical strip technique. The hair taken from behind both of the ears is transferred to the area where it is transplanted, by separating the cells on the skin.
This will only leave a mark when the hair in the neck region is completely shaved. This method is performed on women patients who do not wish to have their hair shaved or those who have a great deal of hairless area. The second method is the FUE method, where hair is cut to between number 0 and 1 in length, and the area where the hair is to be taken and the area where it is to be translated are anaesthetised using local anaesthetic.
The hair roots in the rear region are entered using a device similar in appearance to a 0.5 tip pencil. They are then collected one by one with a device, which is similar in appearance to tweezers. The pieces which have been collected are known as grafts. Grafts are in the form of groups of 2 or 3 roots. These roots are separated into strands and transferred to the area where they are to be transplanted. The area where the transplantation is to take place is opened rasps known as canalisation rasps, and a physiological fluid is injected from a serum.
In this way the regions in the transplantation area become more flexible. This liquid has no side effects. The procedure takes between 4-8 hours. The neck region is sealed with gauze bandage following the procedure. That is because it needs to be protected from infections. This gauze bandage is removed on the following day, when the wound is dressed, and the area is left uncovered.
The area where the hair has been transplanted is not washed in any way for 3 days. The first wash will be on the 3rd day. We perform the first wash at our centre, but patients who need to return urgently can return to their homes after the first dressing and wash their hair at home on the 3rd day, with the method taught at the centre.
The red points on the hairy skin will be cleaned with the washing. They will disappear in full after 1 week. The hair which has been transplanted will fall out in the 3rd week. “Or it may not.”
The hair follicle is of no importance for us. The cells under the skin will multiply in 3-6 months and begin hair production.
