Can You Have A Hair Transplant Without Shaving Your Head?

Have you ever considered getting a hair restoration procedure, but you just don’t want anybody to know about it. So you should have an idea about non-shaven FUE (long hair) procedure. Many people ,including celebrities, don’t want other people to know the truth about their hairlines. The non-shaven FUE helps the hair transplant procedures stay anonymous. The non-shaven hair transplant is an FUE hair restoration procedure where the surgeon doesn’t need to shave the hair of the donor area in order to harvest the hair. The lack of hair shaving minimizes the detectability of the procedure in the donor area. Patients keep their normal hairstyle and can go back to work immediately after the procedure.

What is FUE?

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is a minimally invasive procedure in which follicular unit grafts, consisting small hair follicles, are individually removed from the genetically stronger areas of the patient’s scalp (donor area) and artistically restored to the patient thinning areas (recipient sites).

In recent years, however, hair transplantation can be performed without shaving the head. Unshaven Follicular Unit Extraction (U-FUE) is an incredibly effective treatment, designed for patients who do not want to shave their hair (and have visible signs of hair restoration after the procedure).

They fear the social repercussions of shaving their head, especially women trying to avoid drawing attention to their hair loss. The Unshaven FUE method allows a fully effective form of hair restoration for your hair without having to shave the existing hair. This method provides:

  • Additional confidence.
  • Inconspicuous treatment.
  • Quicker return to normality.

Unshaven Follicular Unit Extraction (U-FUE) is performed in a similar style as regular FUE.

How is U-FUE performed?

First, the surgeon pinpoints the parts of the hair that will make for the best donor areas (the sides or back of the head). During the next step, he removes individual follicular units under local anaesthesia; it is a delicate procedure which demands considerable skill on the part of surgeon.

Once all of the follicles have been successfully extracted, the surgeon punctures the sites for receiving the grafts and inserts them in their final place in a predetermined density. As there is no skin cutting, no scars are created.

With U-FUE, patients can maintain their original hair in the same style as well as length, during and after the procedure. Moreover, post-operative scabs and crusts that might be formed in the donor area will not be visible.

What makes a suitable candidate for U-FUE hair transplant?

  • Unshaven FUE transplant requires your surgeon to be a master of his craft. The process starts with the surgeon choosing the healthiest hair to extract.
  • Then grafts implanted in such a way that they easily blend in with the other non-grafted follicles. Although you wouldn’t have to shave, you may get a not-so-noticeable trim at the back of your head. It is a tedious procedure, where only 500 grafts can be extracted per session, instead of 2000-3000.
  • This method is usually preferred by someone who works in the representative industry which requires a well maintained aesthetic appearance.
  • Both older and younger females suffering from massive hair loss and baldness can also opt for this treatment.
  • The best thing about this is that no one would be able to notice your transplant and you can resume your normal life just after a few days of rest.
