Eyebrow Transplant
Eyebrow transplant is an excellent procedure and many women do not know that it is something that can be done easily. Eyebrows are a major facial feature that helps to define a person’s face. They make a huge difference in your overall appearance.
Who Might Benefit from Eyebrow Transplants?
- Burns to the eyebrow area
- Scarring
- Tumors
Eyebrow Transplant Benefits:
- Simple out-patient procedure.
- Create the look you want.
- Rich, lasting results which you can enjoy every time you look into the mirror, or someone else looks at you.
Often patients have over plucked their eyebrows or as they mature an age, they lose the lateral aspect of the eyebrows and it is often seen in pictures where it looks like they have no eyebrows whatsoever.
How to Prepare?
Once you have scheduled your treatment, there is little preparation. The only precaution to take is to avoid anticoagulants like aspirin or Motrin prior to the surgery. Practical considerations may include the avoidance of any exfoliative or potentially irritating cosmetic procedures or products to the eyebrow area prior to the surgical date, as well as to avoid excessive sun exposure.
The Procedure:
Eyebrow hair transplantation is performed as an in-office, outpatient procedure using oral sedation and local anesthesia. General anesthesia is not required.
Before beginning transplantation, the brow shape is drawn on the area so you can verify shape and fullness.
Utilizing local anesthesia, hair is harvested typically from the back of the head by either removing a strip of donor hair, which is then divided into individual hairs using microscopes, or punched out one-by-one.
These donor hairs are then placed within the planned eyebrow area into individual tiny incision sites just large enough to accept the hair follicle. Once transplanted, the follicles will grow new hairs beginning 3-4 months after the procedure and best results are seen at 6-8 months.
Aftercare:
Post-operatively, there’s very little discomfort, and patients are usually prescribed antibiotics, painkillers, and oral steroids. Expecting minimal swelling above the region, possibly some black and blue depending on the nature of things. But overall, it’s very easy to tolerate. Bruising and swelling can last for a few days. Crust will probably form around each recipient site. This is normal, and you should avoid picking to prevent infection.
Periodic Grooming will be Necessary:
The only difference between natural eyebrow hair and eyebrow transplant hair is that it will continue to grow, just as the hair on your head grows. Periodic eyebrow grooming will be necessary to keep the hair’s eyebrow length.
Eyebrow transplant, by well-sculpted brow lines give harmony and are integral part of facial balance and aesthetic symmetry. Since eyebrows have their own unique characteristics, eyebrow implants is different from hair transplants in a number of important way.
Eyebrow transplants for suitable candidates often see good results within the first two years. After that, the results can fade and hairs often fall out. Sometimes the results can last for years after the initial surgery. If you choose to get eyebrow transplants, be prepared for a possible touch-up procedure in the future.
